Ferreting
Some people say ferrets are a waste of time and I have had plenty of people tell me “I had some guys ferreting on my place, still rabbits everywhere, waste of time!”
The difference between your occasional hunter or hobby ferret keeper and the professional is the quality and experience of the working animal, the equipment, or the lack of this combination in the case of the “weekend warrior”.
It is also important to do every hole, not just the easy ones as rabbits tend to get into things that the average hunter would put into the “too hard basket”. The weekend warrior will also only catch what they want to and leave some rabbits there for another day.
Ferreting has may good points and is an important aspect to be included as part of an integrated plan of attack.
Our ferrets wear tracking devices and are well handled and well maintained animals that love working. They all have names and their own unique personalities. As with our dogs, they are part of the team and we could not do what we do without them. Ferrets are designed to hunt rabbits / rodents and it is in their nature and is instinct, so to use them in this job is a no brainer.
Our ferrets also come from strong working lines, in all different colours and no one colour works better that another, each ferret is different but all of our ferrets do what they were born to do and that is work!
